When you watch this video, please pay attention to the amount of
pressure the obstetrician uses when pulling on the baby's head in
attempt to deliver it. In European countries, the obstetrician (or
more commonly, midwife) catches the baby as it naturally is delivered.
In addition, in European countries most women do not deliver babies
while on their back. It is much more convenient for the doctor, but
far more inconvenient for the mother and baby. The weight of the
mother and gravity push the tailbone upwards, reducing the size of the
birth canal. This seemingly small and insignificant detail, has
increased the United States rates of C-sections to astronomical rates
compared to other countries.
